Our Presbyterian Heritage
Presbyterians are members of the larger family of Jesus Christ. We trace our theological roots to the Protestant Reformation and specifically to Jon Calvin. Calvins thoughts have been very influential upon Presbyterian theologizing ever since the sixteenth century. John Knox carried Calvins ideas to Scotland. From Scotland and Ireland the Presbyterian heritage was brought to America, where it was enriched by strains of that heritage from around the world.

Fain Church was organized in 1891 as the Travis Avenue Presbyterian Church. With each change in location it also picked up a new name. For a time it was the Central Presbyterian Church. In the late 1940s, when it moved to its present location, it was named for one of its pioneering members, Mary Elizabeth Dickson Fain.
Fain Church was organized as a church of the Presbyterian Church, U.S., which was the southern branch of the church. By Gods grace the southern and northern branches of the church were reunited in 1983 as the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) (Back to Top)
Fain Church folks are people with a mission: to share the love of Jesus Christ with each other, the community, and the world.
Fain Church is organized to carry out its mission through the committee of its Session. All members are encouraged to find their niche in one of these serving groups. The committees of the Session are: Administration, Worship, Evangelism and Personnel. (Back to Top)
